The men’s U17 and U19 national handball selections will be taking part in the Prague Handball Cup being held in Prague, Czech Republic from the 24th – 29th March. The Malta Handball Association has embarked on a development project for its younger age categories. The project focuses on giving as much as possible valuable international experience to its players in order to build a strong senior national team for the future.
The association foresees its men’s senior team take part in the EURO qualifiers on a regular basis starting as from the EURO 2020 edition. The qualification phase for 2020 may take place as early as June 2017.
The youth teams have been preparing for this competition since November under the guidance of coaches Mr. Christian McClean and Mr. Joseph Tanti. More competitions are underway and an U16 selection is committed to take part in Interamnia Cup held in Teramo, Italy later this year in the beginning of July.
The association would like to thank SportMalta for financially assisting its youth national sector in this development project and for the supporting the association’s handball academy. Investment in Youth is fundamental to building a solid base of handball players.
