This was not an easy game for Valletta as they had to battle hard to beat Mosta 2:1 at the National Stadium. Just after 19 seconds Abdelkarim Nafti gave a troughpass to Jhonnattann who hit his shot past Mosta goalkeeper Yenz Cini.

Mosta were stunned and on 11 minutes Federico Falcone muscled his way past Adrian Borg and Edile Micheletti but the Argentine’s low shot finished just wide.

Valletta doubled the score three minutes from the end of the first half when Yenz Cini turned into a corner a great shot by Abdelkarim Nafti but from the resulting corner by Jhonnattann, Jean Borg slammed the ball home with a powerful shot from outside the area.

On the 37 minutes Valletta were forced to make their first change when Claudio Pani picked up a muscle injury and was replaced by Jean Borg.

Mosta pulled one back on the 56th when Godwin Mensha concluded a good run on the right with a shot which beat goalkeeper Henry Bonello.

Valletta’s Abdelkarim Nafti was voted as the BOV Player of the match.
