The Youth FA is grateful to the numerous nurseries who helped to make this campaign a success, where almost 200 footballs, together with other related items, such as air pumps, shin guards and even football kits were collected. This campaign was the result of discussions that the Association had with Mr. Andrew Attard , part of the Living Waters group, who regularly do missionary work in Ethiopia. Together, we felt the need to introduce this campaign, to assist kids who love football in the village of Aramo and it’s surroundings, in Ethiopia, there are children who love the beautiful game, but because of their social status do not have the necessary equipment to play.
Surely these grants will make many children in Ethiopia happy, as now they will have the opportunity to practice and play football. The satisfaction could also be seen clearly on the faces of the Living Waters youth present, who welcomed the gratefully the donations presented by the representatives of the nurseries, as well as the number of children attending for this event .
It is a great satisfaction for the Association, as well as the member nurseries that at the end of this calendar year, apart from the various tournaments held during these days, we have also kept a sense of Football Social Responsibility, not only during the Istrina campaign, where through various football events, a good sum of money was collected for this campaign , but, also we have expanded our horizons and this time, we also assisted children who love football in the poor villages of Ethiopia .
On behalf of Fr. Hilary and FA Youth Council I take this occasion to wish everyone all the very best for the new year and remind that the year 2014 will be a very important year calendar for Maltese football, as the MFA will be hosting the UEFA U17 finals in May .
