Yesterday afternoon the Prix des Rencontres Internationales was held at the Vincennes Racetrack in Paris. This is an annual race organised by the French Trotting Association in which drivers from several countries are invited to participate. The participants in yesterday’s race were 14, amongst them our representative Noel Baldacchino who did us all proud and added another success to his personal repertoire when he managed to win this encounter on the French 10-year old trotter Puy de Sancy timed at 1’14’9/km over 2140m.

A victory at this majestic racecourse is a dream that every harness driver around the world wishes to fulfill as it is considered to be the shrine for harness racing. Baldacchino is the second Maltese driver to triumph at Vincennes as Andrew Pace had won the Prix de Sees on Espoir du Terme on 27th January 2001.

Baldacchino was accompanied by the Chairman of the Malta Racing Club Dr Matthew Brincat as well as several friends who flew to Paris in order to support him.

In the meantime, Friday evening, during an award giving ceremony, David Ellul was honoured as owner of Label Chouan who was the best French trotter in Malta during 2012. Ellul also had the opportunity to meet with Madame Lambertz who was the breeder of Label Chouan.
