Over the weekend the Marsa C.C played Overseas C.C in two games, One on the Saturday in the Mens Summer League and on Sunday in the Women’s Summer league.

On Saturday the Champions Marsa played their last game of the league against Overseas C.C who were still looking for their first win.

The Overseas team batted first. Mike Caruana and Jonathan Tucker opened the batting and put on the teams best opening partnership for the competition, that of fifty nine runs until Tucker was lbw trying to work the ball to the onside. He made twenty three runs which included three fours. Caruana went on to retire (local rule) finding some rare form to make forty seven runs which included four fours. Ian Pendlebury made a patient ten runs, while Chris Balston in his first game smashed two fours and the was bowled.Owen James made five runs holding up an end while Vinod Ramakrishna hit out making fourteen runs which included a six and a four. Dean Arnold remained eight not out and Roger Bradley was bowled on the last ball of the innings made six runs. With eighteen extras the Overseas made 139 runs of their overs. For Marsa Ronnie Sacco was their main wicket taker with three while Sarfraz Ali took two.

In reply the Marsa team were solid with Ronnie Sacco making twenty nine runs, Zubair Raja thirty five runs, Haroon Majeed thirty six not out, Frak Spiteri twenty one runs (fourteen balls) Sam Aquilina four runs plus fifteen extras which had the Champions reach their target. On a positive for Overseas it took the Marsa team till the final over with two balls too spare too win. Also two fielding efforts , one from Chris Balston taking a great catch to remove Sacco and again for the second game running Dean Arnold was fantastic in the field stopping at least ten runs. For Overseas Tucker and Pendelbury were the only wicket takers.
The Marsa team earned thirteen points from the game while Overseas had nil.

Next Saturday the Overseas are looking for their first win yet, in their last game against Krishna.

On Sunday the womens team met. The Overseas team batted first and totalled 108 runs from their overs. The main scorer was wides and no balls. From the bat, Angelic Wight was the main scorer with seven, while Amy Caruana made four. In the bowling for Marsa Carole Khosla was the main wicket taker with three. In reply the Marsa team made the required runs in the seventh over, again wides and no balls were the main scorers. Talitha Von Colen made the highest individual score off the day with sixteen runs while Taryn Butler made six. Rebekah Bulteel was the main wicket taker for Overeseas with two. The return game is scheduled for the 15th of September.
