The final phase of the Secondary Schools’ Waterpolo Programme for the scholastic year 2017-2018, had its culmination on the 26th and 30th April, at Tal Qroqq National Pool, where students attending State, Church and Independent Secondary Schools got together for the Inter School Waterpolo tournament.

The girls’ tournament was won by Sliema St Joseph, closely followed by Sliema St Francis.    Mosta Middle School proved also to be quite a tough opposition.  All teams encountered each other over two rounds, showing tenacity and perseverance throughout.  This has been the debut for all three teams in the annual waterpolo competitions for schools organised by SportMalta.

Seven boys’ teams confronted each other over one round ascertaining to be quite a tough challenge.  The team representing the National Sports School established its superiority by winning all its encounters.  The match for the second and third placing was tightly fought between De la Salle College and San Andrea School, with both sides offering spectacular play and heart-stopping action.  De La Salle sealed a win, thus securing the second position. Participating schools were: St Albert the Great, St Michael School, St Edward’s College and Mosta Secondary School.

These competitions proved to be an opportunity and a showcase for talented and promising students to demonstrate their skills, acquired throughout years of hard training, discipline and sacrifice, taking pride in representing their schools.  It was also the ideal setting for students who experienced the game for the first time, to pursue further in developing their skills. Credit is also to be given to all teachers accompanying the students for their cooperation in the running of the events and in ensuring that the values of respect, tolerance and fair play were safeguarded.
