Giovanni Tedesco, the popular and charismatic coach of Floriana FC has resigned, this website can confirm. He had been in the helm for the past three seasons.

In comments given to the media, Tedesco said that his cycle with Floriana “has now come to an end”. His decision was communicated to the Greens’ President Giovanni Gaucci who accepted the resignation.

Floriana suffered a shock defeat yesterday in their FA Trophy game against Naxxar Lions where they lost 3-1. Last weekend they lost the much anticipated derby against Valletta by a solitary goal.

Ironically, this is one of the best seasons for Floriana who are currently lying fifth in the table. Up till the Valletta game, they were the only side that was unbeaten in the BOV Premier League.

It appears that Floriana fans and followers were very angry after the Naxxar result. This may have prompted Tedesco to call it a day.

Tedesco was entering his third season with Floriana. He also had another earlier stint with the club before joining Birkirkara.
